What is 64bit technology? 64bit technology is about doubling the amount of data a CPU can process per cycle of it's operation. to run 64bit you must have a 64 bit processor (AMD 64 X2 Dual Core processor) and is able to run on a 64bit operating such as Windows Vistas 64bit - here are some advantages & disadvantages of 64 bit architecture?
Advantages
Advantages
- It can run 64bit apps
- It can handle more than 4gb of RAM
- It is only compatible with 64bit OS (operating system)
- Runs much faster that it's counterpart 32bit os, as least for it's CPU - such as gaming and video editing
Disadvantages
- Has more compatibility issues than vista 32bit - drivers, fixes etc.
- Does not run 16bit windows and DOS programs very well and not at all.
